Howe Sound Pharmacy has serviced the Sunshine Coast by providing high-quality specialty compounding services for over 30 years.
Specialty compounding is undergoing major Regulatory changes. This will affect many community pharmacies ability to continue to deliver these services across Canada.
Howe Sound Pharmacy is committed to continue providing the specialty products that our Coast residents require. We have aligned with two large compounding specialty pharmacies that we will be able to draw from for all our specialty needs. We have collaborated with both pharmacies before and found their compounds of the highest quality.
This will mean two major changes for our patients. The first is that compounds may take longer to dispense. Therefore we ask as much lead time as possible. The second is that there may be cost adjustments to some compounds. We will however try to minimize this wherever possible.
On another note relating to compounding and extended health plans. Most, if not all plans, now require that the patient send in all specialty compounding receipts to them directly for reimbursement. This means that our patients will pay upfront for the compounded prescriptions and manually submit to their health plans.
